Accessories and Media Features of the Nexus S
It hasn’t yet been officially released, but people like reviewers have already scored preview copies of the phone, which means there is already a fair amount of knowledge about what the phone can do, and these reports look promising. Besides the highly technological stuff like watching videos, and the regular stuff like sending texts and surfing the internet, you can even turn your Nexus S into a small broadcaster of sorts by using it to stream videos all over the internet. This article will discuss how and why you would want to do so.
First of all, in order to stream videos that you shoot yourself, your device has to be capable of shooting those videos to begin with. Not too long ago, your only options for shooting video were dedicated camcorders, but these days, as phones have become more advanced, they too have begun to include things like miniature camcorders and cameras right in their bodies. The Nexus S is no exception, and it comes with a built in 5 megapixel camera that should allow you to take sharp pictures of things you see around you and have web conferences and chat on Skype with friends.
Because of the high definition camera that comes with every Nexus S, users will enjoy streaming videos across the internet. It is not yet known if you will be able to shoot video in 720p or 1080p, although you will probably be limited to 720p, but in either case, it’s known that you will be able to shoot in high definition, and when you combine that with a decent internet connection, it won’t be difficult at all to send that video to whoever you’d like to in real time directly over the internet.
You can accomplish this through free or paid services; if you have money to spare, you can go for the paid services, but if you are trying to save money, sites like Skype allow you to chat with anyone in the world as long as you both have Skype installed, so this would be a simple and easy way to get your videos out. Alternatively, if you go to Google, you can search for sites that basically allow you to set up free accounts and stream video from your smart phone to a page on the site, which you can direct fellow visitors to so you can show them whatever you’ve got going on the other side of your smart phone.
With all of these capabilities built into such a small phone, you might wonder if there’s even a need for accessories. However, it’s still a good idea to pick up a screen protector and a backup battery to keep things running.
