This register of people who have explicitly opted out of phone contact from marketers was developed expressly to help people avoid telemarketing enquiries, and analogous to other acts such as the Can Spam act the DNC registry has provided people with defense from aggressive marketers. Conversely, for small business people such as REALTORS, and real estate brokers, consistently checking this registry ahead of making a phone call costs time, capital and resources that are in rare supply.
