Everyone knew the internet would change communication, even if the full dimensions and shape of the change were hard to grasp. The marriage of internet connectivity to wireless devices, the growing sophistication of the devices themselves, and the ever expanding repertoire of applications has truly exceeded early speculation concerning the extent to which technology would change the lives of the everyday consumer.
